The End to Halloween
We all have a threshold. Mine is about 5 days. And then all the candy collected from this evening's festivities, and it's accompanying mood swings, must end or I. Will. Go. Insane.
My solution: a dump cookie. Wherein, I confiscate every last piece of chocolate from the children's pumpkins, crush them into bite-sized pieces and throw them into my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe (minus the chocolate chips....that would just be ridiculous). Then, we gut-bustingly gobble them up as our final hurrah to Halloween. Oh, and what about all the non-chocolate confection, you ask??? I happily toss it all in the trash. Or have my husband take it to work. Or drop it off at the dentist. It doesn't matter. It has five days to be eaten or make it's exit.
And because I'm feeling generous, my very most favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe of all time:
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- Lots and lots of crunched up candy bars (or 2 cups chocolate chips)
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time. Beat until fluffy. Add vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl. Add to creamed mixture. Beat until combined. Stir in chocolate pieces. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
Happy Halloween everyone!!! May our tummies still like us tomorrow.
